Prof. Bill Schopf, a paleobiologist, studies the history and origins of life on Earth and founded the UCLA Center for the Study of Evolution and the Origin of Life. Prof. David Paige‘s research focuses on determining where water ice, a component considered essential for life, could be stable on planets and satellites in the solar system.
